The Final Tour of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson
Dancing As If There's No Tomorrow
About
Discovering the music of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper when he was just fourteen years old, Ryan Vandergriff quickly became an avid fan of the music and, most importantly, the stories behind the music. From his boyhood home of Billingsley, Alabama while still a teen, the author began to write to fans who had seen and photographed various WDP shows back in 1959. He preserved all of this correspondence and slowly began to build up to the concept of writing his own history of the WDP.
Tackling the project with full gusto beginning in 2007, Ryan interviewed fans and industry insiders for years, culminating in over a thousand recorded interviews. What was a first intended to just be one book on the WDP, quickly turned into three, each one studying in intense detail this doomed rock and roll tour.
Ahead lays two final books on the WDP - one on the February 3, 1959 plane crash with crash expert Kevin Terry, and one on the tour from February 3 - 15, 1959. In conjunction with these final entries is a new ongoing newsletter dedicated to studying the pieces of that tour that he missed the first go-around, a top-secret WDP related project and his first fictional novel.
Ryan Vandergriff lives in Lubbock, Texas with his lovely wife Margaret and their five kitty cats and one bunny rabbit."
