1959 CAB Report
On February 3, 1959 a small Beechcraft Bonanza crashed in Mason City, Iowa killing rock and roll stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson and their pilot Roger Peterson. Within the year, the Civil Aeronautics Board issued their report on the the cause of that crash ("The CAB Report").
This report is nearly sixty pages long and contains weather conditions, witness reports and photos of the crashed plane. Although flawed in some regards, the CAB Report is the most solid document we have on what might have happened in the early morning hours of February 3, 1959."
